Renting in Strathcona, Vancouver
Strathcona lies just east of Chinatown in Vancouver, between Gore Avenue and Clark Drive, south of the port lands. Laid out in the 1880s, it is the city’s oldest residential neighbourhood: wooden Victorian and Edwardian houses, most divided into suites, alongside co-op, social and non market housing. It wraps around the Downtown Eastside, and conditions vary from block to block. There is no SkyTrain station inside, but the 4 runs along Powell, the 14 along Hastings, and the Union Street bikeway runs flat into downtown. Grandview-Woodland is east across Clark Drive.
