Experts predict the rate to hover around the same amount for 2026.<br><br>As of April 2026, the City of Toronto\u2019s average monthly rent price for an unfurnished one-bedroom saw a YoY drop of $176 to a new monthly average of $1,950\/month this month. Let&#8217;s take a look now at the latest data and see which neighbourhoods are experiencing the biggest changes in furnished and unfurnished rental rates.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><h2 id=\"month-to-month\">Ontario rent trends<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to last month, the average rent price for an unfurnished one-bedroom unit in Toronto decreased by $22 this April to $1,950\/month. This April, <a href=\"http:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/etobicoke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Etobicoke<\/a> ($3.52\/sq. ft.) had the highest rent per square foot. For renters, these numbers show which types of units you&#8217;re most likely to encounter in the Greater Toronto Area, while for landlords, you can assess how much competition you&#8217;ll face based on the current supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><h3 style=\"color: #fe5f55\">Active listings by property type<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As of April 2026, the most common rental property type was apartments, dominating the majority of all listings in the GTA at 95.79%. One-bedroom units were the most common type of listing in the GTA this month at 47.85%, while two-bedroom units represented 40.37% of the region&#8217;s active listings.
