For January 2023, the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom, unfurnished unit has increased by $30 \u2013 bringing the average to $2,257. In <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Vancouver (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/vancouver\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver<\/a> itself, the average rent for an unfurnished, one-bedroom unit fell by 4.76%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For furnished units, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Langley (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/langley\" target=\"_blank\">Langley<\/a> (-17.80%), <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/new-westminster\" target=\"_blank\">New Westminster<\/a> (+10.82%), and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"North Vancouver (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/north-vancouver\" target=\"_blank\">North Vancouver<\/a> (+6.05%) saw the most significant month-to-month price changes. For renters, these numbers show which types of units you&#8217;re most likely to encounter in the Metro Vancouver region, while for landlords, you can get assess how much competition you&#8217;ll face based on current supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><h3 style=\"color: #fe5f55\">Active listings by property type<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For January 2023, the most common rental property type by far was apartments, representing a whopping 81.91% of active listings on the market. Two-bedroom units were the most common type of listing this month at 49.67%, though one-bedroom units still represented 35.52% of all active listings on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Based on data sourced directly from liv.rent, these statistics provide a more comprehensive overview of the current rental situation in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br><h3 style=\"color: #fe5f55\" id=\"income-to-rent\">Income-to-rent ratio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each month, we gather data on renters&#8217; income-to-rent ratio and our most recent data shows that <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/housing-tenancy\/residential-tenancies\" target=\"_blank\">renters in Vancouver<\/a> who use liv.rent are paying, on average, 37.04% of their income towards rent.
