This month, the cost of furnished units in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Surrey (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/surrey\" target=\"_blank\">Surrey<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Coquitlam (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/coquitlam?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">Coquitlam<\/a> skyrocketed to +10.6% and +12.5% respectively. <br><br>When it comes to unfurnished rentals, rent in covetable neighbourhoods like Downtown (+2.35) and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"North Vancouver (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/rental-listings\/city\/north-vancouver?page=1\" target=\"_blank\">North Vancouver<\/a> (+3.32%) are trending upwards. For all contracts with start dates from October 2020 to December 2020, the ratio was 40% \u2014 meaning that, on average, renters were spending 40% of their income towards the cost of rent. Of course, it doesn&#8217;t take into consideration all the other variables that go into the cost of living like amenities and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"transit accessibility (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/liv.rent\/blog\/2020\/05\/average-rent-near-transit-in-greater-vancouver\/\" target=\"_blank\">transit accessibility<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, it&#8217;s a good snapshot of where you could look for a home if space is a chief concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the average rent per square foot across Metro Vancouver was $2.48 per square foot. For those who want more room to roam, Surrey or even West Van will be your best bet.
