Places to Eat Around UBC

As back to school nerves set in, Ikea Allen keys are misplaced and you are still on the waiting list for a required UBC course, preparing your own meals is the last thing on your mind. Let us help you find nearby eats on campus.

Virtuous Pie

Located in Wesbrook Village,  Virtuous Pie (01) is a light and airy pizza place offering only 100% plant-based fare. This meat-eater was suspicious of the “BBQ shreds” on my Southern Belle Pizza (San Marzano tomatoes, bbq shreds, cashew mozzarella, pineapple, red onion, corn and cilantro) but was blown away but the authentic texture and taste of this vegan facsimile. Breakfast, ice cream and baked menu items are all excellent too.  And if you are too consumed in study, Virtuous Pie now offers bicycle delivery on campus.

Mercante (02) serves up made to order, traditional Italian brick oven pizza. Thin crusts are topped with the finest meat and cheese options and all are less than $12.

For more delicious vegan and vegetarian fare, head to the Nest (student union building) and build your own bowl at Porch (03).  Top your warm brown rice with homemade falafel, smoked tofu or quinoa croquettes, then some greens, a dressing and you will be adequately fueled to Storm the Wall.

Nori Bento & Udon

For a noodle fix try the Curry Beef Udon or the tasty Laksa with seafood at Nori Bento & Udon (04). Nori also offers sushi and bento boxes for quick grab n’ go fare.

Pacific Poke

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Vancouver in 2018 without a poke recommendation. Located in the Computer Sciences Building, Pacific Poke (05) serves wholesome, flavor-packed Poke creations sure to satisfy all the raw fish fans out there.

When your parents come to visit, have them treat you to a finer dining experience at the Gallery (06).  Perched at the top of the Nest, the Gallery Patio & Lounge, offers locally sourced, sustainable fare and an excellent craft beer selection on tap.

“Marbelous” cookie and Rain or Shine

And finally, sate your sweet tooth with a white chocolate, chocolate “Marbelous” cookie from the Upper Case café (7)  in the Nest or a scoop of Cracked Mint or London Fog from Rain or Shine (8) ice cream’s, newly opened location in Wesbrook Village.
